We are Manchester Lions JSC and for the past two years we have had the opportunity to make the dreams come true of some of our local boys. This May we will be heading off to Barcelona for the 3rd time and we are currently looking for some sponsors to help us along the way. We are a sports club which has been based out of Moston in North Manchester for the last three years, operating in a largely impoverished area always has its difficulties but for the most we have managed to survive and thrive in our surrounds. However each year the trip brings difficulties logistically and financially and this year that will also be the case.
The background of Moston often means that sport is far more important than the one hour a week where the kids turn up and play football, in many cases it becomes an escape from the everyday struggles that life brings. So imagine the feeling, walking out to represent your team not only at your local venue but in Europe. Last year was particularly poignant as the team flew out the day after the attack in Manchester and as we landed we were one of the first flights out of Manchester to do so. That weekend the boys played with their hearts on their sleeves and with Manchester Lions printed across their backs, seemingly with the pride of a city on their shoulders.
The event itself takes place over the weekend of May 25th-26th in Salou and is a football tournament for boys and girls of specific ages. In taking the teams to Barcelona it feels like a fantastic extension of what we do 52 weeks of the year and a proverbial cherry on the cake of all that is great about grassroots football. This year we will be looking for sponsors to help the club to fully kit out our players for which the company with be emblazoned on the kit front and centre! Also to help us fund the trip as a whole be it with fundraising opportunities or outright sponsorship.
