Welcome to the New Adelphi Theatre’s first ever programmed season. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our new venue, located on the Peel Park Campus of the University of Salford. This season you’ll see work from established, internationally touring companies and from emerging artists. Our programme aims to reflect the diversity of our performing arts courses, our film and media, creative writing, playwriting and scriptwriting courses and our art and design courses.
We believe in our student work being visible alongside the professional work we programme. Throughout this season, ‘School of Arts & Media Presents’ evidences where our students or staff are making or co-creating work.
We are delighted to be partnered with long-term comedy duo, Lip Service on the development of their new show Strangers on a Train Set. They’ll be sharing a work-in-progress in October and they’ll be back again in November with Mr Darcy Loses the Plot. We’re also bringing you an Edinburgh show (Wings) by emerging comedy duo Happenchance Theatre.
We’ve also got to shout about our cinema nights, in particular East is East where we’ll be joined by writer Ayub Khan-Din for a Q&A hosted by our very own Dr Kirsty Fairclough.
At its heart, our vision is committed to nurturing the emerging talents of our graduates, supporting the work of our postgraduates and fostering partnerships with regional, national and international artists. We will strive to create a distinctive arts offer that aims to deepen the relationship between staff, students, artists and audiences. The New Adelphi Theatre at the University of Salford will provide an intellectually stimulating, creative and inclusive environment for its wider community.
We are committed to our students’ education and learning within a vibrant arts hub and so we will actively encourage participation between visiting artists and learners. Our venue is a place for collaboration, co-creation, and incubation. We’re a venue where the audience at one event might be the performers or collaborators in the next.
